the commandments

Design is often presented as a doctrine—rules etched in stone, principles to be followed without question. But what if these commandments are empty vessels, waiting to be filled by those who dare to redefine them? The Commandments of Design is not a set of answers; it is an invitation to question.
This project dismantles the illusion of absolute truths in design. It reflects on the way knowledge is preached, revered, and accepted without critique—mirroring the religious structures that dictate belief. Yet, true creativity does not reside in obedience. It thrives in the tension between structure and rebellion, between learning and unlearning.
Each commandment exists as a void, a blank space, urging designers to inscribe their own philosophy. To break the rules is to understand them. To set new rules is to liberate oneself from the weight of tradition. In this space of contradiction, design finds its true purpose—not as a fixed system, but as an evolving dialogue between vision and defiance.
